Police Investigative Records Technician I, II, or III
Starting pay of candidate chosen will be within a Hiring Range of $24,180 - $38,805 and will commensurate with education and experience. Position available with City of Gastonia Police Department for 3rd shift hours (10:30pm – 7:00am). Some weekend work is required. This position is responsible for all front desk activities including, but not limited to, officer and public assistance (in person and via telephone); Acknowledging and responding to the Division for Criminal Information; Serving as part of the PD’s Tele-Service Team; Entering, scanning, and merging of police reports and case data; Interfacing with the District Attorney’s Office; Management of NCIC Hot Files; Copying files and cases for officers, the District Attorney and the public; Maintaining radio communications with officers out in the field. This position is the first point of contact at the Police Department, so will screen callers and visitors to determine how to best serve their needs. This position initiates special checks on businesses and residences throughout the city based on requests from business owners and homeowners; Performs critical quality control work that significantly impacts our Uniform Crime Reporting at the state and federal levels. Responsibilities include: Answering the after hours/emergency utilities phone line and the drug tip line as well as maintaining warrant service for the department. Will also issue noise permits and taxi permits as well as take payments for these permits. This position is on 3rd shift that allows the Police Department front desk coverage to provide services to our citizens 24 hours/day, 7 day/week, 365 days/year. This position also operates on a rotating basis in order to provide this 24/7 coverage in case. Performs a wide variety of specialized and complex clerical duties including handling of police records and supports law enforcement functions and programs.
