John B. Howren, Jr., was elected to represent Ward 5 on the
Gastonia City Council in November 2005 and is serving his 2nd term in office after being re-elected in 2007. Councilman Howren is a self-employed Marketing and Sales Professional. He received his education from Appalachian State Teachers College, Brevard College and East Tennessee State University. Mr.
Howren is married to Susan and they have two
children, Reverend John T. Howren II and Angela Walsh; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriel Walsh.
